  • The audience-centred model of communication
  • Doing audience analysis – values, attitudes, needs and expectations
  • The 4 Cs to speaking/presenting confidently & convincingly

(i)   Carry the message – believe in your message and your reason for    speaking; embody the message
(ii)  Craft the message – structure a clear, cohesive and convincing message
(iii) Connect with your hearers – establish relationship, rapport and relevance with the audience
(iv) Cultivate your delivery – communicate compellingly and sustain audience interest

  • Managing nervousness and building confidence
  • Using visual aids effectively
  • Handling question-and-answer sessions
  • ‘Singlish’ expressions and pronunciation affect credibility
 
     
 

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants would be able to:

Targeted Audience

Executives and business people who frequently face the challenge of having to speak and present to various audiences (such as decision-makers, stakeholders, clients etc.) in an effective and compelling manner.

 
     
 

Trainer/Speaker Profile:

Alan Tea is an experienced trainer, a member of the International Coach Federation and an accredited CALIPER and DISC consultant.Alan consults for multinational corporations and government agencies, coaching and training their staff (from executives to middle/senior management) in teambuilding for improved performance, effective hiring/selection, coaching/mentoring partnerships, and the development of staff competencies (such as communication and leadership).

His expertise also extends to language education where he consults for educators and scholars from the People’s Republic of China. He has been invited to speak at seminars in Australia and the United States and locally, he is a frequent guest panellist, moderator and facilitator at public sector workshops and conferences.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Master of Arts from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and has published in the field of linguistics. On top of his corporate training and consultancy work, he also teaches language programmes at NUS.
